Jokowi diperiksa dalam kapasitasnya sebagai pelapor dalam kasus dugaan pencemaran nama baik terkait tudingan ijazah palsu.
Adapun dalam pemeriksaan ini, penyidik yang datang ke Solo atas permintaan Jokowi.
Kuasa hukum Jokowi, Rivai Kusumanegara, menyebut bahwa Jokowi bersedia diperiksa di Polresta Solo karena kebetulan penyidik Polda Metro Jaya sedang memeriksa banyak saksi yang berdomisili di wilayah Solo dan Yogyakarta.
Menurut Rivai, hal itu bermula saat dirinya melihat sebuah situs media online yang menginformasikan bahwa delapan saksi terkait kasus yang sama menjalani pemeriksaan di Polresta Solo.
