The Future of Human Health (In the Age of Nanoplastics) | Dr. Elie Haddad | TEDxMiami
NOTE FROM TED: While plastic pollution has been identified as a public health and safety concern, several claims around the prevalence and long-term health effects of microplastic exposure have been contested by experts working in the field and warrant further scientific investigation. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of plastic exposure, fertility, and disease. We've flagged this talk because it falls outside the content guidelines TED gives TEDx organizers. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfIn this thought-provoking talk, Dr. Elie Haddad reveals how microplastics- invisible particles we inhale and ingest daily, can threaten both cardiovascular and reproductive health.
He explores ways to reduce environmental exposure and the emerging evidence of how these contaminants may be altering our bodies in ways we are just beginning to understand. Dr. Elie Haddad is a triple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Cardiac Electrophysiology. As a practicing cardiologist, he has spent decades studying the human body and the forces that shape health and disease.
Beyond clinical medicine, he is the co-founder of the Homo Plasticus movement, an initiative that uses art, science, and public education to raise awareness about the impact of micro and nanoplastics on human biology. Through his work, Dr. Elie seeks to bridge medicine, environmental health, and public awareness to inspire action for the future of human health. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Receive SMS online on sms24.me
