Hal itu disampaikan Mercy dalam rapat bersama Menteri Kebudayaan di Gedung DPR, Jakarta, Rabu (2/7/2025).
"Kami sangat berharap permintaan maaf. Mau korbannya perorangan yang jumlahnya banyak, yang Bapak tidak akui itu massal, permintaan maaf tetap penting," ujar Mercy.
Politikus PDIP itu menuturkan, ia terlibat dalam Tim Gabungan Pencari Fakta (TGPF) bersama Komisi Nasional (Komnas) Perempuan pada 1999-2002 untuk mendalami kerusuhan di wilayah Maluku.
Hasilnya ditemukan banyak korban kekerasan seksual, namun mereka tak berani menceritakan karena trauma.
Anggota lainnya, Esti Wijayanti juga mendesak Fadli Zon untuk meminta maaf jika memang pernyataan yang dimuat di media benar adanya.
Apalagi, polemik ini sudah menjadi sorotan internasional.
