The telescope has a primary mirror that is 7.9 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter — the same size as the Hubble Space Telescope's primary mirror.The telescope is named after Nancy Grace Roman. Known as the "mother of the Hubble Space Telescope," Nancy Grace Roman was born May 16, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee, and died December 25, 2018.
