Gaza genocide sparks wave of boycotts at major European music festivals over KKR’s Israel Links
Musicians across Europe are boycotting festivals owned by private equity firm KKR due to its investments in Israel's defence industry and illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. The protest has spread from major events in Spain and the UK to the Netherlands, where popular bands and DJs are now pulling out of performances.
This musical boycott reflects growing outrage over Israel's actions in Gaza, with artists using their platforms to speak out against what some are calling genocide.
The controversy has affected major Dutch festivals like Milkshake and Black Cross, owned by KKR-acquired Superstruct Entertainment.
While Superstruct claims operational independence, many artists remain unconvinced.
The boycott highlights how the festival spirit of unity is being leveraged for political change, with musicians hoping their actions will amplify calls for justice in Gaza where politicians have remained largely silent.
