Полной безысходностью положение России на поле боя назвал член комитета по разведке Палаты представителей Конгресса США Джим Хаймс во время визита в Киев. По его словам, угрозы главы МИД РФ Сергея Лаврова в адрес иностранных дипломатов, находящихся в украинской столице, свидетельствуют о том, что Москва начала стремительно терять позиции в Украине.Конгрессмен отметил, что подобные заявления Кремля указывают сразу на несколько факторов. Прежде всего, это признак серьёзных проблем и отсутствия уверенности в собственных возможностях. По его мнению, впервые за долгое время Россия сталкивается с ухудшением своих позиций по ряду ключевых показателей на фронте.
Хаймс также считает, что в ближайшие месяцы украинские военные продолжат возвращать территории. Однако, по его словам, для России это будет связано с высокой ценой и дальнейшим ростом потерь.
