Inside Airbus: Where Airlines Design Their Cabins
We got a grand tour of Airbus’s Customer Definition Centre (CDC) in Hamburg — a 10,000-square-meter hub where airline teams spend days designing every last detail of their cabins. From lighting and seating layouts to full-scale cabin mockups with lavatories and crew rest areas, nothing is left to chance. Here, airline teams can sit in the seats, test virtual reality configurations, and even see how fruit looks under different lighting schemes. Every surface matters, down to sidewall panels, bumpers, and trim. It’s a blend of technology and craftsmanship and Hamburg is at the very heart of this part of the Airbus design process. Also: Gabe got to try out lying in a crew rest bunk for the first time ever.
