In un momento storico in cui il Medio Oriente brucia e le grandi potenze si muovono su uno scacchiere sempre più instabile, continuare a inseguire le dichiarazioni quotidiane di Donald Trump è un esercizio sterile. Non perché ciò che dice sia irrilevante in senso assoluto, ma perché scambiare la retorica per il potere reale significa non aver capito come funziona davvero l’apparato statunitense.
Le operazioni militari, le posture strategiche, gli equilibri geopolitici non si improvvisano in una settimana. Si preparano in mesi, spesso in anni, talvolta in decenni. Pensare che un singolo leader – chiunque esso sia – possa accendere o spegnere un conflitto con un post o una conferenza stampa è una semplificazione infantile. Negli #StatiUniti il complesso militare-industriale, le agenzie di sicurezza, le alleanze strutturali e gli interessi economici hanno una continuità che travalica le amministrazioni. Il #Pentagono non è un ufficio stampa.
Trump non è un’eccezione al sistema: ne è un prodotto. Come ogni presidente americano, è sostenuto da grandi finanziatori e da reti di influenza consolidate. È noto il sostegno ricevuto da Miriam Adelson, vedova del magnate dei casinò Sheldon #Adelson. È noto il ruolo di Jared Kushner, genero dell’ex presidente, nei rapporti con il governo israeliano guidato da Benjamin #Netanyahu Benjamin Netanyahu. Sono fatti, non teorie.
Le critiche interne
Ma la questione più interessante è un’altra: negli Stati Uniti il dibattito esiste, anche dentro il campo conservatore. Tucker #Carlson critica apertamente le scelte interventiste. Pat Buchanan Pat Buchanan, storico riferimento dell’area paleoconservatrice e fondatore di The American Conservative, contesta da anni la linea bellicista in #MedioOriente. Charlie Kirk ha espresso pubblicamente la propria contrarietà a un’escalation contro l’Iran. Si può condividere o meno ciò che dicono. Ma lì il confronto è visibile. È ruvido. È reale.
