Why banks are building for Web3 in silence: Kresus' Dr. Jordan Knecht

Banks look slow on blockchain, but most of the work is happening where nobody can see it. Institutions are running RFPs, testing tokenized deposits and certificates of deposit, and lining up for regulatory clarity, because a bank that waits for a green light can lose 18 to 24 months of build time. Tokenizing an asset is the easy part. The hard part is liquidity, custody, settlement and connecting it all to core banking.

Dr. Jordan Knecht, Head of Strategic Integrations at Kresus, breaks down what it means to be the execution layer for digital assets: tokenized CDs being deployed in the UAE and El Salvador, why a tokenized municipal bond still needs a buyer at 3 a.m., and where new liquidity for tokenized real estate is coming from. He also covers the GENIUS and CLARITY Acts, whether banks are actually using stablecoins yet, why crypto exchanges and banks will converge, and why institutions should not pick a layer one before they define the use case. Not financial advice.
