Iran’s FM spokesman says ‘No clear schedule’ for IAEA inspections after Switzerland talks

At a press conference in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei addressed several key issues following the first round of US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland. He confirmed that Iran did not meet with IAEA Director General Grossi and has no clear schedule for IAEA inspectors to examine Iranian nuclear facilities that came under attack. He said Iran remains committed to the NPT and criticised the recent IAEA Board of Governors decision, praising Russia and China for their "firm stance" while expressing regret that some regional countries voted in favour.
On frozen assets, Baghaei dismissed reports that Iran would be forced to buy US foodstuffs, saying the assets "will be released and will be employed with absolute liberty by Iran in order to purchase whatever goods or commodities needed by the nation." He said the dynamic for releasing assets is now in effect.
On the Switzerland talks, Baghaei clarified that the Iranian delegation did not walk out despite false reports. He said the four-party meeting lasted one and a half hours, with a recess after 30 minutes, after which messages continued through mediators. He said Iran decided not to reconvene the meeting and is now communicating through the mediator.
On Lebanon, Baghaei said ending the war in Lebanon is "part and parcel" of the MoU and that US commitments are clear, with "no justifications whatsoever" for continued Israeli attacks. He said the withdrawal of occupation forces is part of the arrangements and will be finalised in the coming days.
Baghaei also warned that regional countries that allowed the US and Israel to use their territory for aggression against Iran face "legal liability" and Iran will take action.
