Vinnie Johnson showing out vs. Boston in front of 60,000
January 29, 1988 - In typical Microwave fashion, Vinnie Johnson came out guns-a-blazing, hitting on five of his first six shots (though the commentary incorrectly calls it five-for-five) en route to a 19-point, 4-assist performance in a 125-108 blowout win over the Boston Celtics. Not that anyone on the Celtics had much luck slowing Johnson but the unenviable task on this particular evening largely fell upon the shoulders of young Dirk Minniefield. It went about as one would expect, though that Dirk chasedown was probably clean.More than 60,000 fans turned out to the Pontiac Silverdome for this one, setting an NBA record (this game has now been usurped by a Jordan-era Bulls game and a Steph-era Warriors contest).
