Both Loewen and Raptis had their struggles before becoming mainstays at the CrossFit Games.
“From 2014 to 2018, I tried to make it to the CrossFit Games,” Loewen said. “Five times in a row, I failed. So I go into every Games with the perspective of, you know what it feels like to try and get to this point and to fail five years in a row. Now appreciate it.”
“2017, 18, 19, 20, and 21, I was trying to make it as an individual, and I finally made it in 2022,” Raptis said. “There was a moment where I told myself, ‘I’m done, I’m quitting, I’m not going to do it.’ … I’m really happy that I didn’t because this is the coolest job ever.”
Now these two veteran athletes seek to finish the job and stand on top of the podium for the first time.
Loewen and Raptis will get the chance to be crowned the Fittest on Earth at the 2025 CrossFit Games, Aug. 1-3, in Albany, New York.
