Hamas rejects US claim on Gaza ceasefire violation as ‘Israeli propaganda’

Hamas has rejected a statement from the United States State Department in which it cited “credible reports” indicating the Palestinian group would imminently violate the ceasefire deal with Israel.
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said the US allegations were false and “fully align with the misleading Israeli propaganda and provide cover for the continuation of the occupation’s crimes and organised aggression” against the Palestinians in Gaza.
The Israeli military has confirmed it carried out air strikes on Rafah in southern Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the operation, despite a ceasefire with Hamas, after meeting senior security officials.
Israel says it acted after Hamas fighters fired at its soldiers stationed in the area.
Hamas denies this, saying Rafah has been under Israeli control since March, and it is unaware of any incidents.
In Deir al Balah in central Gaza, several wounded Palestinians have arrived at al-Aqsa Hospital.
At least eight people have been killed across the Strip on Sunday, including in al-Zuwayda in central Gaza, and in the attack on Rafah.
Hamas says it remains committed to the ceasefire, now into its second week.
