Yamyam Galaksi Andromeda | BBC Science Focus Türkiye
Andromeda. Mahallemizin en büyük ve en görkemli galaksisi. Mahallemiz derken de astronomide de karşılığı olan bir olgudan bahsediyoruz. Local Group adı verilen bir galaksi grubundan. İçerisinde bizim galaksimiz Samanyolu ve Andromeda ile birlikte 54 civarında galaksiden oluşan Yerel Grup adı verilen galaksiler grubu. Bu grubun kütleçekim merkezi de en büyük galaksi olan Andromeda ile ikinci en büyük galaksi olan Samanyolu galaksisi arasında bir yerlerdedir. Her iki büyük galaksinin de cüce galaksilerden oluşan uyduları bulunur. Macellan Bulutları, Küçük Ayı, Büyük Ayı gibi sistemler bunlardan bazılarıdır.Fakat Samanyolu ve Andromeda bahsettiğimiz gibi özellikle bu cüce galaksiler açısından büyük bir tehlike unsurudur. Hem Samanyolu hem de Andromeda astronomide galaktik yamyamlık adı verilen ve büyük balıkların küçük balıkları yemesi gibi küçük galaksileri bir nevi yiyerek kütlesine kütle katmaya devam ediyorlar. Andromeda ise boyutu itibariyle ve en önemlisi bizim galaksimize doğru bir çarpışma rotasında olması sebebiyle bizim galaksimiz için de bir risk oluşturuyor. Ancak bunu nasıl anladık?
