Kontak senjata yang terjadi hanya melibatkan senjata api ringan, tanpa penggunaan persenjataan berat.
Baku tembak ini berlangsung sejak malam hingga pagi waktu setempa hingga menimbulkan ketegangan di perbatasan.
Wakil Juru Bicara Militer Thailand menyebut gangguan dimulai dari wilayah Phu Makua akibat aksi pasukan Kamboja.
Selain itu, bentrokan juga dilaporkan terjadi di wilayah jantung kota Thailand dan berlanjut hingga pagi hari.
Bahkan militer Thailand mneuding Kamboja menempatkan penembak jitu di kuil perbatasan serta menembakkan roket ke wilayah Thailand.
Situasi dikabarkan masih mencekam dengan Thailand mencurigai Kamboja tengah mempersiapkan operasi militer skala besar.
Adapun zona pertempuran dilaporkan terjadi di tujuh titik perbatasan, meliputi hutan lebat dan lahan pertanian.
Akibat konflik ini, lebih dari 138.000 warga Thailand terpaksa mengungsi dari daerah perbatasan.
Sementara itu, sskira 80.000 warga Kamboja juga kehilangan tempat tinggal akibat meningkatnya eskalasi militer.
