In this video, we'll learn what a selection really is, an area you want to target, and the three broad ways to make one: by hand, automatically, or with special techniques for color, fur and fine hair. We'll begin with the Lasso, Polygonal Lasso and Quick Selection tools, and see how to combine them to get exactly the shape you need. Then we'll let Photoshop do the hard work with automatic selections like Select Subject, Remove Background and Select Sky, and use them to drop a tennis player into a stadium and give a family photo a beautiful new sky. After that, it's time for trickier jobs like cleaning up fur with Select and Mask, removing a green screen with Color Range, and adjusting any selection with Contract, Expand and Feather. And to finish, we'll swap a famous face onto the Mona Lisa, just for fun. Whether you're brand new to Photoshop or you've never been sure which selection tool to reach for, this lesson will help you select anything with confidence. I hope this video helps you.
