Venezuela rocked by back-to-back 7.5 and 7.2 earthquakes
Over 30 people have been killed and hundreds more injured, with the toll expected to rise after Venezuela’s most powerful earthquake in more than a century. The 7.5 magnitude quake struck the country’s northern coast just 40 seconds after a 7.2 magnitude foreshock.The quakes collapsed homes in the capital, Caracas, and caused widespread destruction in the region. Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez has declared a state of emergency, and hundreds of first responders are rushing to find and rescue those trapped in the rubble.
