Senadores del Partido Demócrata de Estados Unidos bloquearon este viernes una iniciativa republicana para financiar temporalmente al Gobierno federal. Debido a ello, es probable que el cierre administrativo se prolongue durante el fin de semana.
Los demócratas abogan por una extensión de los subsidios ampliados de la Ley de Cuidado de Salud a Bajo Precio, que expiran a finales de año. Al mismo tiempo, buscan revertir los recortes al Medicaid, el programa gubernamental de atención médica para personas con bajos ingresos.
