La Revolución Mexicana
La Revolución Mexicana (1910-1920) fue el gran levantamiento popular que acabó con más de tres décadas de dictadura porfirista y dio origen al México contemporáneo. Todo comenzó con el llamado de Francisco I. Madero a tomar las armas contra el eterno reelecto Porfirio Díaz, prometiendo democracia efectiva y “sufragio efectivo, no reelección”. Tras el triunfo inicial y la llegada de Madero al poder, su asesinato en la Decena Trágica desató una guerra civil entre los propios revolucionarios.En el sur, Emiliano Zapata alzó la bandera de “Tierra y Libertad” y defendió el reparto agrario para los campesinos sin tierra. En el norte, Pancho Villa comandó la mítica División del Norte y se convirtió en símbolo de justicia popular y carisma indomable. Venustiano Carranza representó el ala constitucionalista que buscaba restablecer el orden institucional, mientras Álvaro Obregón emergió como el estratega militar que finalmente consolidaría el poder.De ese torbellino de ideales y enfrentamientos nació la Constitución de 1917, una de las más avanzadas de su tiempo: garantizó el reparto de latifundios, derechos laborales, educación laica y gratuita, y limitó el poder de la Iglesia y las empresas extranjeras. Aunque costó casi un millón de vidas y provocó un éxodo masivo del campo a las ciudades, la Revolución destruyó el antiguo régimen de hacendados y abrió el camino al México moderno del siglo XX.
