Pada forum pemilihan Ketua Umum PPP ini, kata Rommy, para muktamirin akan menentukan nasib partai berlambang Ka’bah ini.
Hal itu disampaikan Rommy saat sesi wawancara khusus dengan Tribunnews di Studio Tribun Network, Palmerah, Jakarta, Selasa (23/9/2025).
Rommy pun mengungkit soal kegagalan Plt Ketua Umum M. Mardiono yang tidak mampu membawa PPP melenggang ke Senayan. Dimana, PPP tidak lolos parliamentary threshold atau PT 4 persen.
Menurutnya, kegagalan yang dilakukan oleh Mardino ini terulang kembali.
Kini, dia pun mengungkapkan nama baru yang digadang-gadang calon Ketua Umum PPP mendatang. Yakni, Mantan Menteri Perdagangan, Agus Suparmanto.
“Kemudian muncul keseriusan keseriusan para ulama untuk mencoba mencari alternatif. Jadi itu isu pertama. Isu kedua tokoh seperti apa sih yang kemudian diperlukan. Menurut para ulama menurut para pemegang suara ini di daerah Mungkin bisa lihat beberapa pekan terakhir atau malah justru sepekan terakhir begitu banyak deklarasi dukungan Kepada Pak Agus Suparmanto,” kata Rommy.
Rommy pun menyebut, sosok Agus Suparmanto kini mulai di terima di kalangan internal partai, bahkan di tingkat Dewan Pimpinan Wilayah (DPW) dan Dewan Pimpinan Cabang (DPC).
Apalagi, dia menyebut Agus Suparmanto memiliki relasi dan komunikasi yang baik dengan sejumlah ulama, kiai bahkan Presiden RI Prabowo Subianto.
Lebih lanjut, Rommy juga mengatakan, pengurus PPP di daerah bahkan telah mendeklarasikan dukungan untuk Agus Suparmanto dan Taj Yasin Maimoen.
