FIFA VOR DEM ABSTURZ: WM 2030 ohne Europas Top-Teams – eskaliert jetzt der Fußballkrieg?Der Streit zwischen UEFA und FIFA verschärft sich. Der europäische Fußballverband droht offiziell mit einem Boykott der WM 2030. Auslöser sind Pläne von FIFA-Präsident Gianni Infantino, Teile der Weltmeisterschaft an private Investoren zu verkaufen.
Die UEFA lehnt auch eine Kompensationszahlung von 40 Millionen Euro ab. Nach einer internen Krisensitzung kündigte der Verband an, dass keine UEFA-Nationalmannschaften an FIFA-Wettbewerben teilnehmen werde, solange die Pläne weiterverfolgt werden.
Die UEFA verlangt den vollständigen Rückzug des Vorschlags. Zudem fordert sie verbindliche Garantien gegen privates Eigentum an Führungsstrukturen und Wettbewerben.
Bei einem Boykott könnten Spanien, Frankreich und England bei der WM 2030 fehlen. Das wäre für die FIFA ein Super-GAU.
Die UEFA fürchtet außerdem Nachteile für eigene Wettbewerbe wie die Europameisterschaft und die Champions League. Mehr FIFA-Wettbewerbe und eine größere Club-WM könnten deren Bedeutung schwächen.
Uli Hoeneß erklärte, einen Wettbewerb ohne Europäer könne man „in die Tonne treten“. Infantinos Wiederwahl als FIFA-Präsident gilt trotz der Kritik aus Europa als sicher.
