On an Al Jazeera discussion panel, Israeli political commentator Ori Goldberg said that while Israelis broadly support the war at a collective level, "cracks are most definitely showing" privately. He argued that Prime Minister Netanyahu is framing dissent as treason, echoing President Trump's tactic of portraying domestic opponents as the enemy. Goldberg described Trump's approach as seeking to "pummel Iran into complete surrender," but warned a ground incursion would end "catastrophically for the American military."Alam Saleh, a senior lecturer in Iranian studies at the Australian National University, noted that Iranians are "rallying around the flag" due to bitter memories of what happened to Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, fearing the "Syrianisation" of their country. He criticised the Trump administration's reliance on military force, arguing the conflict cannot be resolved within 48 hours and that the president is "boxing himself into a corner." Both analysts agreed that Iran has been consistent and durable throughout the war, with Saleh noting its missile capabilities remain intact despite the attacks. Saleh also condemned the targeting of civilian and historical sites, including schools and museums, as deeply concerning for Iranian nationalism.
