Solo Mythic Final Campaign Mission "The Message" [Edge of Fate]
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate - Solo Mythic Final Campaign Mission "The Message" Completion - Mythic Difficulty -50 The Message Mission. Just a video showing a solo clear of mythic difficulty campaign missions on Kepler, this time the final mission The Message. Details below.Very long mission due to the bosses, but generally not too difficult. I had two deaths in the mission, but it's so long I didn't really feel like running it back for a "flawless" when there's no triumph or need in the first place. One I fell down a map in the gap I didn't know existed. The other I forgot about the moving platform on the relocator section.
Outside of that the combat is fairly safe if you play it right, and it took me until the second phase of the boss to figure out the best spot to damage that from. Mythic overall hasn't been too bad imo. Sure some enemies and bosses have a bit too much health and it slows parts down, but the rest of it has been a decent change of pace from mowing everything down like we have been for years.
"Artificial difficulty" gets thrown around a lot when it comes to enemies having more health or dealing more damage, but sadly I really don't know what alternative there could be with the current sandbox and how much we have at our disposal. Even if you went the other direction, lowered enemy HP by half and added 10x more enemies, it'd just end up being fodder to feed for abilities like devour, consecration, ascension and so on. More bosses or major enemies maybe? But then it'd feel like every enemy had inflated HP and we'd be back to the same complaints. Enemies dealing more damage? Also falls under "artificial difficulty", and anytime that's happened people have been unhappy too and felt one taps are unfair.
There's alternatives like time pressure or limited phases, both of which the Destiny community has vehemently opposed anytime it's used as a means of adding difficulty. Improved and more aggressive enemy AI is also option. Along with banes which have added some extra layers of difficulty and thought required, and probably leaning further into those is the only way forward. Champions also exist as a means to require specific loadouts and barriers, but even then there's a limit to how threatening enemies can be with our current set of abilities to handle them. Unless every boss or more enemies had things like drain, which I imagine would get quite tedious. Another alternative is nerfing our characters, but that always feels bad so it rules it out.
Long story short, who knows what the best approach is. I like the idea of Mythic, and personally I don't mind the inflated HP or damage, even more so if there was actual rewards to go alongside the time involved. I know the majority don't like it, but I also can't really see an alternative that currently exists that would please everybody.
Next is to finally get the Kepler secrets video done. Hopefully I'll have that done tonight or tomorrow. And then back to the power grind to finish conquests.
