Ancient Ritual Baths Found Near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount | Israel Update (Oct. 13, 2026)
A remarkable archaeological discovery in Jerusalem is offering new insight into Jewish life during the Second Temple period. Archaeologists have uncovered a large complex of ritual baths at the foot of the Temple Mount, a find that researchers say may have been used by pilgrims preparing for worship nearly 2,000 years ago. Its size, location, and design provide an extraordinary glimpse into the spiritual practices that once brought thousands to the holy site. Then, Israel correspondent Jodie Cohen takes viewers to Jerusalem’s historic Cardo, the ancient main street that has connected generations of merchants, visitors, and worshippers for centuries. From Roman construction to Byzantine expansion, the Cardo remains a living link to Jerusalem’s layered past, where modern shops and galleries stand alongside stones that have witnessed nearly two millennia of history.
