Pasca Tsunami, 8.000 Mangrove Pulihkan Pesisir Pantai Layana Palu | KOMPAS SIANG

Keberhasilan ini tak lepas dari inisiatif komunitas lokal bersama warga.
Penanaman ulang mangrove dimulai sejak tahun 2019, hampir satu tahun pascabencana tsunami yang melanda Teluk Palu dan Donggala.
Perbedaannya kini terasa signifikan. Ribuan bibit mangrove telah tumbuh subur, menghiasi pesisir Pantai Layana, Kelurahan Mamboro.
Bukan hanya itu, salah satu jenis pohon mangrove yang dulu hampir mati, kini mulai menumbuhkan tunas barunya.
Ekosistem mangrove di area ini kini tampil dengan wajah baru, secara bertahap pulih.
Ketua Mangrovers Palu, Ismail, atau akrab disapa Ipang, bilang, di atas area sekitar dua hektare ini, telah ditanam 8.000 bibit mangrove dari lima jenis yang umum tumbuh di Sulawesi Tengah.
Komunitas Mangrovers berharap wilayah ini menjadi kawasan konservasi mangrove. Secara administrasi, area ini masih dikenal sebagai wilayah tangkap nelayan.
Jika berhasil menjadi wilayah konservasi, potensi pengembangannya akan semakin besar. Kawasan ini bisa berkembang menjadi ekowisata mangrove, bahkan menjadi area penelitian yang penting.
Mangrove sendiri dikenal bukan hanya sebagai penjaga ekosistem laut, namun juga berfungsi sebagai penghalang alami dari abrasi, bahkan melindungi dari dampak bencana seperti tsunami yang pernah menghantam kawasan ini pada tahun 2018 silam.
