LIVE: Indian Army Tests Agni-1, Prithvi-2 Ballistic Missiles Following Akash Prime Missile TestIndia successfully test-fired Prithvi-II and Agni-I nuclear-capable short-range ballistic missiles. The missiles were test-fired from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The test validated all operational and technical parameters. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO for the successful test. The Indian Army also successfully tested the Akash Prime missile system, which destroyed two high-speed unmanned aerial targets at 15,000 feet in Ladakh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the test as a "Significant milestone for the Indian Army". Missile system modified to operate in altitudes above 4,500 metres. It is a new variant of the Akash weapon system, used during Operation Sindoor. Akash is a surface-to-air missile system with a range of 25-30 kilometres and offers protection from aerial threats. Akash Prime will form the third and fourth regiments of the Akash missile system in the Indian Army. The system is developed by DRDO and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The trial boosts India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence technology.
