En este directo de El Hilo Rojo analizamos algunas de las portadas más sorprendentes de la revista BYTE y cómo, a lo largo de casi 50 años, muchas de sus ilustraciones parecen haber anticipado el mundo tecnológico en el que vivimos: inteligencia artificial, computación personal, robótica, algoritmos, datos, automatización y una sociedad cada vez más dependiente de las máquinas. Algo muy parecido a lo que ocurre con las portadas de la revista The Economist.Recorreremos estas portadas para comparar lo que BYTE imaginaba con lo que finalmente ocurrió, buscando símbolos, conceptos y predicciones que hoy resultan extraordinariamente familiares. Pero también plantearemos una pregunta más incómoda: ¿estas publicaciones simplemente anticipaban hacia dónde avanzaba la tecnología o mostraban al público desarrollos y tendencias que ya estaban mucho más avanzados de lo que se conocía?
