Kings and Generals began remaking its animated historical documentary on the history of the Ottoman empire. The first season covered the Rise of the Ottoman Empire from the humble beginnings as a small Turkic Beylik to the Fall of Constantinople 1453 covering all the major battles (https://youtu.be/TDLmsiqhgns), while the second season covered the reign of Mehmed II (https://youtu.be/spikLEMFZTo). In 1481, Bayezid II took the Ottoman throne at a moment of deep uncertainty. Though he inherited a vast empire from Mehmed II, his rule was immediately tested by unrest on every frontier and by the lingering threat of his brother, Cem Sultan. In this episode, we follow Bayezid’s difficult first years as he worked to stabilize the empire, secure peace with Hungary, and reassert Ottoman power in both Europe and Asia. The video explores the end of the Hungarian conflict, the 1484 campaign against Moldavia and Stephen the Great, and the Ottoman seizure of Kilia and Akkerman, which reshaped control of the Black Sea frontier. It then turns east to the brutal Ottoman-Mamluk War of 1485–1491, where border tensions escalated into a bloody struggle over Anatolia and Cilicia. At the center of this conflict stands the dramatic Battle of Ağaçayırı in 1488, a devastating clash that exposed serious weaknesses in the Ottoman war machine. Finally, the episode follows the long exile of Cem Sultan, whose captivity in Rhodes, France, and Rome became an international diplomatic crisis. This is the story of Bayezid II’s fragile rise, his first victories, and the dangerous challenges that defined his early reign.

The video was made by Arif Azaman (https://www.youtube.com/user/MathemedicUpdates), while the script was written by Ege Güneş https://www.instagram.com/historia_egefem This video was narrated by Officially Devin (youtube.com/channel/UCU0-VII-V376zFxiRGMeZGg & youtube.com/channel/UC79s7EdN9uXX77-Ly2HmEjQ).
