A turma criticou a Ford quando trouxe a picape Maverick para o Brasil, pois este nome foi usado em um projeto fracassado da Ford, quando a marca lançou na década de 70 um carro com esse nome para brigar com o Opala da GM.Mas, agora vai acontecer o contrário, pois a GM vai lançar no Brasil um novo SUV compacto baseado no Onix com o nome de Sonic. Essa denominação foi utilizada em um projeto fracassado no Brasil para um Chevrolet brigar com o Ford Fiesta.
Desta vez, o Sonic chega como um SUV para brigar com o Volkswagen Tera, Fiat Pulse ou Renault Kardian. A mecânica já está na prateleira com os motores 1.0 turbo ou 1.2 turbo de três cilindros acompanhados do câmbio automático de seis marchas.
