WATCH | Peru: LGBTQ+ Community Celebrates Gay Pride in LimaThe LGTBIQ+ Gay Pride Parade officially kicks off in Lima, Peru. As every year, thousands of people of all identities congregate in the centre of the capital to perform the usual colorful route; in which, among other things, seeks to achieve visibility, promote equal rights and vindicate sexual diversity, orientation and gender in our country. This comes days after the country stops calling trans people mentally ill. The decision came after hundreds of protesters took the streets of the capital Lima last month to demand the scrapping of a new law that described those who identify as transgender, along with “cross dressers” and those with “gender identity disorders” as mentally ill and eligible for health services via both public and private providers.
