Tom Lausen, analista di dati con sede in Germania e membro nominato della commissione d'inchiesta parlamentare del Bundestag sulle misure COVID, è stato audito dalla commissione provinciale di Bolzano sulle misure anti-COVID. "Prima e dopo - commenta Holzeisen - non c'è traccia di una pandemia. Cioè questo picco non è assolutamente spiegabile con una pandemia". Andamenti analoghi, si riscontrano nella stessa settimana a Madrid, Parigi, mentre la Svezia — unico grande Paese europeo a non aver adottato un lockdown generalizzato — mostrò un incremento molto più contenuto. Per escludere errori nei registri, il ricercatore ha condotto una verifica sul campo visitando 27 cimiteri della zona bergamasca: i dati, ha concluso, sono reali.
