Freeport Tanam Mangrove di Kalimantan Selatan, Dukung Rehabilitasi 10 Ribu Hektare
KALIMANTAN SELATAN, KOMPAS.TV - Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup bersama PT Freeport Indonesia melakukan penanaman bibit mangrove di pesisir Desa Sabuhur, Kabupaten Tanah Laut, Kalimantan Selatan.Penanaman ini merupakan bagian dari komitmen PT Freeport Indonesia untuk merehabilitasi 10 ribu hektare hutan mangrove di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Di Desa Sabuhur, seluas lima hektare lahan pesisir ditanami ribuan bibit mangrove.
Target rehabilitasi ini mencakup 8.000 hektare di Papua dan 2.000 hektare di wilayah lainnya di Indonesia.
Deputi Pengendalian Pencemaran dan Kerusakan Lingkungan KLHK, Rasio Ridho Sani, menekankan bahwa konservasi mangrove harus dilakukan secara serius, mengingat setiap tahun Indonesia kehilangan hampir 19.500 hektare hutan mangrove.
Sementara itu, Presiden Direktur PT Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, menyatakan bahwa mangrove mampu menyimpan karbon lima kali lebih besar dibandingkan hutan daratan.
