ST BARTHS Famous Hill Approach: A Twin Otter Adventure

They say this is the 3rd most dangerous airport in the world – do you agree? In this video we fly with Winair aboard the legendary Twin Otter from St Maarten (SXM) to St Barths. We experience the famous hill approach in some very windy conditions, visit the aircraft spotting area at the top of the hill, explore the island, and discover the surprising Swedish history of this French Caribbean island.

Flying into St Barths (St Barthelemy) is one of aviation's most famous experiences. The approach requires pilots to descend over a steep hill, fly a challenging approach into Gustaf III Airport (SBH/TFFJ), and land on a very short runway surrounded by stunning Caribbean scenery.

Did you know St Barths was once part of Sweden? The capital, Gustavia, was named after King Gustav III and traces of Swedish influence can still be found throughout the island today. We’ll show you a bit of that too.

A huge thank you to Winair, Visit St Maarten and the St Barth Tourism team for making this trip possible.
