Back Tension Is NOT What You Think It Is

Most archers misunderstand back tension.

Back tension is not squeezing your shoulder blades. It’s not contracting your rhomboids. And it’s definitely not trying to “feel it in your back.”

Back tension is a result of correct movement.

In this video, I break down the difference between focusing on muscles vs focusing on movement. When you move the posterior deltoid and tricep junction in a natural arc, the correct muscles activate automatically. When you try to squeeze and isolate, the system jams up.

If your draw feels heavy, shaky, or forced, this may be why.

Movement over muscle.
