Adapun saat ini Netanyahu tengah menunggu hasil penyelidikan atas pembebasan tersebut.
Dalam keterangan pada Selasa (2/7/2024), Netanyahu mengklaim dirinya tak tahu mengenai pembebasan Salmiya.
Netanyahu lantas memerintahkan badan keamanan Israel, Shin Bet untuk melakukan investigasi.
Menurut Netanyahu, pembebasan Salmiya merupakan kesalahan serius dan kegagalan moral.
Salmiya diyakini Netanyahu ikut bertanggung jawab atas penculikan dan pembunuhan warga Israel.
Sebelumnya pembebasan Salmiya juga telah mendapat kecaman dari Menteri Keamanan Israel, Ben Gvir dan mantan anggota Kabinet Perang Benny Gantz.
Namun Shin Bet berdalih pembebasan itu atas persetujuan militer Israel.
Shin Bet menyatakan, pihaknya menentang pembebasan pelaku yang terlibat serangan pada warga sipil Israel.
Sehingga diputuskan untuk membebasakn beberapa tahanan yang tak terlalu berbahaya.
Pembebasan Salmiya pada Senin (1/7/2024) menuai sorotan karena pengakuannya mengenai penyiksaan keji yang dialami warga Palestina di dalam penjara.
