日本の芸術分野をけん引する才能が集結し、いましろたかし原作の『化け猫あんずちゃん』をアニメーション映画化！
本作では実写で撮影した映像からお芝居を抽出し、アニメーションにする「ロトスコープ」という手法を採用。
可愛くもどこか現実味のある未だかつて観た事がないアニメーション映画となっている。
森山の他、キャスト（声・動き）に五藤希愛、青木崇高、市川実和子。鈴木慶一は出演に加え、本作の音楽も手掛けている。
さらに美術監督をアカデミー賞ノミネート作品である『レッドタートル ある島の物語』（16）で背景を担当したJulien De Manが務め、本作だけの最強の布陣が実現。
アニメーション制作は「シンエイ動画」（「ドラえもん」・「クレヨンしんちゃん」）と、フランスのスタジオ「Miyu Productions」が日仏共同にて行う。
