UE celebra cumbre decisiva sobre la posibilidad de utilizar los activos rusos para apoyar a Ucrania
Los líderes de la UE se reúnen el 18 de diciembre en Bruselas para celebrar una cumbre decisiva sobre si utilizar los activos rusos congelados para apoyar a Ucrania.La Comisión Europea ha propuesto utilizar 210.000 millones de euros de los fondos del Banco Central ruso congelados en la UE, con un plan inicial para proporcionar a Kiev 90.000 millones de euros en dos años. Bélgica, donde la mayoría de los activos se mantienen a través de Euroclear, se ha opuesto al plan, alegando posibles riesgos legales y financieros por parte de Moscú.
Los funcionarios de la UE están tratando de persuadir a Bélgica para que retire sus objeciones, argumentando que las múltiples salvaguardias y garantías de otros Estados miembros minimizan los riesgos.
