South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa is heading for a second term. Just a day before the new parliament convenes, Ramaphosa and the ANC seem to be closer to forming a unity government. The opposition Inkatha Freedom Party has said it is ready to join the proposed government with the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA). After the May 29 election, the ruling ANC, which has been in power for the last 30 years, lost its majority for the first time. It proposed to form a government of national unity with all the rival parties instead of a narrower coalition. However, days of talks have not resulted in an agreement ahead of the Friday deadline.
