Im größten Tierheim der Welt | ARD Morgenmagazin
Gemessen an der Anzahl der gleichzeitig betreuten Tiere ist es das größte Tierheim der Welt:Smeura, etwa 120 Kilometer nördlich von Rumäniens Hauptstadt Bukarest gelegen. Hier kümmert sich der deutsche Verein „Tierhilfe Hoffnung e. V.“ um über 6000 Hunde auf einer Fläche von sieben Fußballfeldern. Den Tieren würde sonst der Tod drohen. Denn weil das Land ein Riesenproblem mit Straßenhunden hat, betreibt es über 140 Tötungsstationen. In Smeura werden die Tiere kastriert und später dann auch in deutsche Partnerstationen vermittelt.
