PLO | Giám đốc Cơ quan Mật vụ Mỹ nguy cơ ‘mất ghế’ sau vụ ông Donald Trump bị ám sát hụt.Chủ tịch Hạ viện Mỹ Mike Johnson đã kêu gọi Giám đốc Cơ quan Mật vụ Mỹ Kimberly Cheatle từ chức sau vụ cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump bị ám sát hụt, cho biết Hạ viện đang có kế hoạch điều tra vụ việc.
Cụ thể, ngày 17-7, Chủ tịch Hạ viện Mỹ Mike Johnson đã kêu gọi Giám đốc Cơ quan Mật vụ Mỹ - bà Kimberly Cheatle từ chức sau vụ cựu Tổng thống Donald Trump bị ám sát hụt, theo tờ The Hill.
“Tôi cũng sẽ kêu gọi [bà Cheatle] từ chức. Tôi nghĩ không có gì để bào chữa sau vụ xả súng” - ông Johnson nói.
Ông Johnson cho biết rằng ông đang “đánh giá mọi phương án hành động” trong trường hợp bà Cheatle từ chối từ chức.
“Chúng tôi đang xem xét tất cả các lựa chọn ngay lúc này” - ông Johnson trả lời khi được hỏi liệu các phương án lựa chọn có bao gồm khả năng quốc hội luận tội bà Cheatle hay không.
Tuy nhiên, ông Johnson lưu ý rằng nhiệm vụ đầu tiên là phải thành lập lực lượng đặc nhiệm của quốc hội để củng cố các cuộc điều tra liên quan “những thất bại về an ninh” trong vụ ông Trump bị tấn công.
“Chúng tôi sẽ hành động nhanh chóng. Tôi sẽ thành lập một lực lượng đặc nhiệm, một lực lượng đặc nhiệm đặc biệt trong Hạ viện vào thứ Hai tới [ngày 22-7]” - ông Johnson nói thêm.
Theo The Hill, hiện có khoảng sáu ủy ban trong quốc hội Mỹ đang điều tra vụ ông Trump bị ám sát hụt, phần lớn các cuộc điều tra nhắm vào Cơ quan Mật vụ và Bộ An ninh Nội địa Mỹ.
