How Lula’s Victory In Brazil Scrambled Trump’s Regional Playbook; 'Not A Slave...' | Vantage
Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva has the Presidential Runoff in Brazil, handing Flavio Bolsonaro a defeat. Despite trailing in Round 1 to Bolsonaro Jr., Lula Da Silva came back to win a clear majority in the runoff. Lula has now set at least 4 records with this historic win, and is going to become Brazil's oldest President. Bolsonaro Jr, son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro, has called the election 'rigged' and has refused to concede defeat in the polls. The US was actively watching this election, with US President Donald Trump even meeting Bolsonaro Jr. in May this year. Meta Platforms, that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp has been accused by the Lula campaign team of favouring Bolsonaro Jr. Brazil is now an anomaly in Latin America that has not voted a right-wing into office, after US President Donald Trump returned to the White House in 2025 and implemented his Donroe Doctrine.
