FÓSSEIS DE 2,1 BILHÕES DE ANOS SÃO ENCONTRADOS NO REVESTIMENTO DA FACULDADE DE MEDICINA DA UFMG | O revestimento de mármore do hall de entrada da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG guarda um patrimônio geológico de valor histórico e científico. Foram encontrados fósseis de estromatólitos, com cerca de 2,1 bilhões de anos, considerados entre os mais antigos já registrados no Brasil.
A descoberta foi feita pelo professor Kennedy Martinez, do Departamento de Anatomia e Imagem, que identificou as estruturas preservadas no mármore originário da região de Ouro Preto (MG).
