The war in West Asia is drawing in Western militaries. As Iranian strikes continue across the region, countries like Australia, the United States, Britain and France are deploying military assets to protect their interests and allies in the Gulf. Australia has announced the deployment of an E-7A Wedgetail surveillance aircraft, along with advanced air-to-air missiles and dozens of personnel to the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, the United States is reinforcing the region by redeploying THAAD missile defence systems and Patriot interceptors from other theatres. These moves are aimed at strengthening air and missile defence across the Gulf. But they also highlight a deeper shift — Western powers are no longer watching the conflict from the sidelines.
