L’Italia sta dalla parte delle regole, del dialogo, della politica. Per questo abbiamo condannato e continuiamo a condannare l’aggressione russa all’Ucraina. Continueremo a sostenere l’Ucraina per tutto il tempo che sarà necessario, ma lavoriamo per una pace giusta e perché la Russia, in prospettiva, possa tornare a essere un interlocutore e non una minaccia per l’Europa. La Russia, membro permanente del Consiglio di Sicurezza, non può sottrarsi alle proprie responsabilità. Il cessate il fuoco non è una concessione alla controparte, ma il primo passo verso una sicurezza europea che protegga tutti, Russia compresa. Per questo guardiamo con grave preoccupazione alle crescenti minacce ibride russe contro l’Europa e abbiamo espresso piena solidarietà alla Germania per l’attacco all’aeroporto di Lipsia. La pace richiede apertura, ma anche fermezza. Il dialogo senza verità è debolezza; la fermezza senza dialogo è un vicolo cieco".
