Pendant les années 1990, au Pérou, des centaines de milliers de femmes, majoritairement pauvres, indigènes, analphabètes et vivant dans les zones rurales du pays, ont subi des stérilisations dans le cadre d'une politique de contrôle des naissances menée sous le gouvernement d'Alberto Fujimori. Beaucoup affirment avoir été opérées sans consentement libre et éclairé, sous la pression, la menace ou la tromperie. Rien jamais n’était expliqué aux patientes. De nombreux cas révèlent des violations graves des droits humains, les opérations étaient effectuées sans assurances médicales adéquates, sans anesthésie parfois et aucun soin post-opératoire n’était fourni, entraînant des blessures graves et des décès dans certains cas.Construit autour de témoignages directs et d'une parole longtemps étouffée, ce reportage explore la mémoire d'un scandale d'État encore largement impuni. Il montre comment, malgré les années passées, les victimes poursuivent leur combat pour la reconnaissance, la justice et la dignité.
