Bolivia’s presidential run-off faces worst economic crisis in decades

Bolivia is facing a critical presidential run-off amid its most severe economic crisis in decades.
A collapse in the gas industry has led to a nationwide shortage of dollars and fuel, leaving farmers struggling to plant crops and businesses grappling with dwindling sales.
Inflation has surged to 20 percent, while the central bank has exhausted its reserves.
Residents of the high-altitude El Alto region blame President Luis Arce for years of economic mismanagement, which have caused basic goods to skyrocket in price and created widespread economic hardship.
Many hope the election will bring much-needed change.
Both presidential candidates have pledged economic reforms, but reversing the crisis will likely mean tough measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies that have historically provoked unrest.
As uncertainty looms, Bolivians are holding onto hope for a brighter future.
