Film, Hülya ve Filiz isimli iki kardeşin yaşadıklarını konu edinir. Hülya bir yandan alkolik annesine bir yandan da okuyan kardeşine bakmaya çalışan genç bir kadındır. Hayattaki tek amacı, kardeşinin okulunu bitirmesidir. Bu amaç uğruna gazinolarda şarkıcılık yapar. Filiz, okulu bitirince annesinin de ölümüyle yalnız kalan ablasının yanına gelir. Hülya, Filiz’in dönüşüyle şarkıcılığı bırakmak zorunda kalır. Filiz ise kısa süre içinde Ayhan’ın ofisinde iş bulur. Bir süre sonra ablasını da bu işe aldırır. Filiz uzun zamandır Ayhan’a âşıktır. Fakat bu gerçeği ne ablasına ne de Ayhan’a söyleyebilir. Ayhan ise görür görmez Hülya’ya âşık olur. Hülya kardeşini üzmemek için aradan çekilir ve evi terk eder. Fakat yıllar sonra Ayhan’ın ağabeyi sayesinde iki kardeş yeniden karşılaşacaktır.
