Nieto denuncia muerte de su abuela por presunta negligencia en hospital de Homestead, Florida

En este fragmento de Hola! Ota-Ola, Alex Otaola da voz a una denuncia dolorosa enviada por un seguidor del programa: la muerte de su abuela, presuntamente por negligencia médica en el Hospital Baptist de Homestead, Florida.

Según el nieto, la paciente fue dada de alta con un tratamiento que incluía amoxicilina, a pesar de que en su historial médico constaba que era alérgica a la penicilina. Dos días después de iniciar el medicamento, su piel y ojos comenzaron a tornarse amarillos, y el 9 de octubre falleció en casa.

El denunciante asegura que, aunque él era su representante legal y su cuidador, las leyes del estado de la Florida no le permiten iniciar una demanda porque su abuela era viuda y no tenía hijos menores de 21 o 25 años. Aun así, afirma que no se quedará callado y exige justicia, verdad y una respuesta del centro médico. Envió documentos médicos, fotos y pruebas del tratamiento suministrado.

Desde el programa, Otaola pide al hospital que, si no existió mala práctica, lo esclarezca con transparencia. Y si la hubo, que actúe con responsabilidad, empatía y respeto hacia la familia. Nadie devolverá la vida de la señora, pero sí se puede evitar más dolor, más silencio y más impunidad. Es un llamado humanitario: escuchar, explicar y actuar con justicia.
