Klarifikasi ini diberikan untuk meluruskan isu-isu liar yang beredar belakangan soal isu ijazah palsu Presiden ke-7 RI Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Ketua Dewan Kehormatan DPP Partai Demokrat Hinca Panjaitan dalam keterangan pada Senin (28/7) mengatakan bahwa Ketua Umum Demokrat Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) memerintahkan BAKOMSTRA untuk menjelaskan soal isu ini.
Dikatakan oleh Hinca bahwa sejak tahun 2019 hingga kini, Roy Suryo sudah tak memiliki hubungan dengan Demokrat.
Menurut Hinca, Roy Suryo mengundurkan diri saat dirinya masih menjabat sebagai Sekretaris Jenderal yakni periode 2015-2020.
Hinca pun berharap penjelasannya dapat mengakhiri spekulasi dan menyudahi upaya pihak-pihak yang mencoba mengaitkan Partai Demokrat dengan masalah yang bukan jadi tanggung jawab institusi.
Sebelumnya, Jokowi dalam wawancara bersama wartawan di kediamannya, Solo beberapa waktu lalu mengatakan bahwa serangkaian isu yang menyerang dirinya dan keluarga berkaitan erat dengan pihak-pihak tertentu yang memiliki kekuatan politik.
Namun, Jokowi tak mengungkap secara gamblang soal dalang yang ia maksud.
Ia juga tak menyinggung soal partai ataupun warna partai.
