The United States says it has carried out military strikes after what it describes as an Iranian drone attack on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
White House correspondent Kimberly Halkett reports that US Central Command said the strikes were conducted in response to an attack on four commercial vessels, one of which was damaged. Washington says the action was intended to protect freedom of navigation while maintaining diplomatic efforts under a recently signed memorandum of understanding.
The developments mark the first major test of the ceasefire framework as negotiations continue, with US officials insisting they remain committed to diplomacy despite the military response.
